The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM.

Mayor Taylor advised that in accordance with the Town's Procedure By-law, no decisions are to be made but rather this meeting was an opportunity for Council to have informal discussion regarding various matters.

The Chief Administrative Officer introduced the concept of core asset management plans as a watershed moment for the Town of Newmarket which will drive data-driven decision making into the future. The Commissioner of Corporate Services provided an overview of the Asset Management plans which had previously been presented to Council and introduced the staff members who had worked to produce the plans.

The Manager of Asset Management began the presentation with a timeline of the Asset Management process to date and introduced the service area managers to provide an overview of services, achievements and plans for the Asset Management recommendations implementation. The Manager of Operations, Manager of Capital Projects, Manager of Water/Wastewater and Senior Climate Change Specialist provided a presentation which outlined the asset conditions, current issues and workplans for the Town's road, bridge, water and waterwater, and stormwater infrastructure.

The Manager of Asset Management continued the presentation with an overview of the current Asset Management practices at the Town of Newmarket and the potential challenges over the long-term. The presentation concluded with the next steps for core asset management. Members of Council asked questions of clarification regarding tracking and forecasting the condition of assets, existing condition of water infrastructure and safety, determining the condition of roads, use of grant funding for repairs, and the status of stormwater ponds and water mains.
