Overview

 

The Chief Administrative Officer provided an overview of the workshop material and advised that this session is one of the final components of the Council Orientation.

 

He further advised that the workshop will be live streamed and available to those unable to attend in person.

 

 

2.

Safe Drinking Water Act.

 

 

 The Acting Commissioner of Development and Infrastructure Services introduced Mr. Brian Jobb, Manager of the Walkerton Clean Water Centre Training Institute.

 

Mr. Jobb addressed those present with a PowerPoint presentation regarding municipal requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act, duties of owners and operating authorities, duties and liabilities of decision makers and enforcement of the statutory standard of care. Members of Council queried Mr. Jobb about various aspects of the presentation including, chlorination, backflow connections, compliance reporting and ongoing training programs. 

 

 The Council Workshop recessed at 10:34 a.m.

Health and Safety Training

 

 

The Director of Human Resources introduced Ms. Jayne Smith, Regional Consultant, Public Services Health and Safety Association.  Ms. Smith addressed those present with a PowerPoint presentation highlighting health and safety information including duties of employers, duties of directors and officers of a corporation, due diligence and liability examples.

 

4.

Workplace Harassment and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. 

 

The Director of Human Resources and the Deputy Clerk addressed those present with an overview of Workplace Violence and Harassment legislation and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
