The meeting was called to order at 4:11 PM.
Jerisha Grant-Hall in the Chair.

Jerisha Grant-Hall advised that all Town facilities were closed to the public, and that members of the public were encouraged to attend an electronic meetings by joining through the ZOOM information provided with the agenda.

    1. That the presentation regarding the Engaged Inclusive Communities Summary Report be deferred to the October meeting of the Newmarket Anti-Black Racism Task Force.

  • An alternate motion was presented and is noted below in bold.

    1. That the Newmarket Anti-Black Racism Task Force Minutes of August 3, 2021 be approved, as amended.

Gavin Gunter provided an affirmation to the Newmarket Anti-Black Racism Task Force and acknowledged the work put in by the Members thus far. He applauded the Members for continuing to set goals and recommendations with a focus on the long term and future generations.

Jerisha Grant-Hall provided further comments and reminded the Members that we are currently experiencing challenging times and encouraged all to stay in the room.

Jerisha Grant-Hall ensured that all Members in attendance were provided access to the working group document and were able to provide feedback. Gavin Gunter provided an overview of the twelve themes and actions that were identified by the working group through the information gathered by the online survey results and interviews.

Members of the Task Force took turns reading aloud the recommendations from each of the twelve themes and actions. Jerisha Grant-Hall asked that any additional comments or questions be provided to the working group following the meeting. 

Jerisha Grant-Hall advised that the final draft vision statement had been distributed to the Task Force Members for review and no further amendments were requested.
