The Acting Director of Planning and Building Services provided an introduction to the presentation which included a background of the issue and the goals of the study.
Blair Scorgie of SvN Planning provided a presentation to Council regarding the Established Neighborhoods Compatibility Study. The presentation began with a detailed overview of the policy recommendations of the report, including amendments to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law.
The presentation proceeded with a number of graphical depictions of properties to show what features would comply with the proposed policy recommendations. The presentation concluded with the next steps for the study and when it would return to Council.
Members of Council queried the presenter on the size of homes allowed as measured by lot coverage, how grading of the property could affect compliance, the impact of architectural style and the effect of nearby developments on established neighbourhoods.
The Acting Director of Planning and Building Services provided Council with the expected timeline for the final report and draft by-law amendments to be presented to Council.
