John Mascarin of Aird & Berlis LLP provided Council with a presentation regarding Council & municipal administration and an overview of various legislation. The presentation outlined the powers that accompany the role of Council, the Integrity Commissioner and a background on Council Code of Conduct. Members of Council queried the presenter regarding various legislation, and discussed open meetings, closed meetings and conflict of interest. Kim Mullin of Wood Bull LLP provided Council with a presentation that overviewed the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. The presentation outlined the transition from the Ontario Municipal Board to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, the appeal process and effects on local municipalities.
