Newmarket Downtown Development Committee – March 29, 2019 – Item Financial Incentives Program Grant Application 2016-02 – Multiple
 

The owner of 234 Main Street/464 Timothy Street received previous Project Feasibility support to offset professional fees associated with an extensive redevelopment of this historic property on the southwest corner of Main and Timothy that will relocate some of the existing tenants and enable the owner to establish a brew pub restaurant in the former historic tea room of the building. He is now seeking Façade, Interior, and Planning and Building permit fee funding support to offset costs as the project begins the construction phase.

Newmarket Downtown Development Committee – March 29, 2019– Item Financial Incentives Program Grant Application 2019-02 – Project Feasibility Program
 

A new venture called Mercato on Main is proposed at 47 Main Street South. This will feature an Italian bakery, deli, prepared food and hot table specializing in Italian cuisine. Extensive expansion/enhancements to the existing building are proposed, with the Project Feasibility grant request the first of several anticipated as the project proceeds. Note that this application also is related to Project 2019-04. Applicants will be in attendance to provide further details on both projects.

Newmarket Downtown Development Committee – March 29, 2019 – Item Financial Incentives Program No-Interest Loan Application 2019-04 –Interior Renovation And Improvement Program,
 

The owners of the building known municipally as 47 Main Street South are required to physically expand and substantially improve the premises prior to leasing to Mercato on Main. They are seeking support for a no-interest loan of up to $100,000, subject to confirmation of final costs.

Newmarket Downtown Development Committee – March 29, 2019– Item Financial Incentives Program Grant Application 2019-03 – Business Sign Program
 

Bene Bene Ice Cream shop is required to move as part of the larger renovation project at 234 Main Street South (Project 2016-02). The owner is seeking support for a new sign, which has been endorsed by the Heritage Conservation District Committee.

This is an application from Main Street Clock Inc. in accordance with Section 31 of the Minutes of Settlement negotiated for these properties, which are available on the Town’s website at https://www.newmarket.ca/LivingHere/Documents/Executed%20Minutes%20with%20Schedules%20(2).pdf. Note that this funding is outside the scope of the annual budget of the NDCC.

Newmarket Downtown Development Committee – March 29, 2019– Item Community Event Grant Request – Newmarket Car Club
 

The Newmarket Car Club is seeking support to offset marketing costs for its annual car show on Main Street. In 2018, the show shifted to Father’s Day Sunday from previous years’ Saturday date, which was received favourably by the BIA while remaining well attended. The Sunday format will continue for 2019.
