Councillor
Vegh advised that the Town will be changing to a free chlorine disinfection
method for the water distribution in order to ensure pipe wall cleanliness
and water quality. This temporary changeover has been postponed. The
Commissioner of Development and Infrastructure Services advised that there
has been a delay and the changeover will commence at the end of January,
2015. There may be slight chlorine odour or colour in the water during the
disinfection period.

Kerwin advised that some Ward 2 residents may experience a mist coming from
their appliances or water taps during the water system disinfection period.

College Manor Park connecting the park to Sheridan Court is closed for
repairs until further notice. College Manor Park can be accessed
alternatively through College Manor Drive or Gaston Place. For more

Twinney invited residents to join
in the fun at Newmarket’s Annual Winterfest event! Enjoy a $1.00 pancake
breakfast beginning Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. at Newmarket
Riverwalk Commons on Doug Duncan Drive. The fun continues 10:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. with entertainment, Tim Horton Express rides, horse drawn wagon rides,
pony rides, children's games and hot food. Admission is free although select
activities have a nominal fee. Winterfest continues on Sunday, February 8,
2015 at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex, 100 Eagle Street West with free
public skating from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and free public swimming from 2:00 to 4:00
p.m. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome. For more

Councillor Taylor advised that on Thursday, February 5, 2015 the York Region
Food Network is hosting its annual fundraiser and trivia challenge. They are
seeking sponsors and trivia teams to join them in order to work toward food

Councillor Taylor advised that the Newmarket Soccer Club loan has officially
been paid in full to the Town. An Information Report regarding the payment
is available on the Town’s website. He summarized the purpose and reasoning
for the loan and pointed out that the Town collected $140,000 in interest
payments through the loan.

Hempen put a call out to teens to get ahead of the game with Toronto Argonaut Jonathan Hood. His
12 session teen mentorship program teaches leadership, teamwork and
performance. The program starts Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:30
p.m. at the Recreation Youth Centre & Sk8 Park located at 56 Charles

Sponga thanked volunteers and the community of Ward 5 for preparing the ice
pad at the Lions Park. The rink has been filled with families playing shinny
hockey and the location is now a community meeting place. He also thanked
staff for their work to launch the outdoor hockey rink pilot program.

Sponga commended the Newmarket Minor Hockey League and advised that the
children of Newmarket performed well at the Neil Barber Memorial Hockey
tournament in London, Ontario.

Sponga advised that a Public
Information Centre is scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 2015 to discuss the
proposed reconstruction of Woodland Court from Lorne Avenue to the west
limit. The format is an Open House and you are invited to drop-in anytime
between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. in Cane Meeting Room A & B at the Municipal
Offices at 395 Mulock Drive. Project drawings will be on display and staff
representatives from Engineering Services and the Town's consultant will be
available to answer questions and provide information. If you are unable to

Town is seeking volunteers to serve on various statutory committees.
Newmarket residents may apply to be a part of a number of committees
including the Accessibility Advisory Committee, Appeals Committee, Committee

Library Board and Property Standards Committee. The deadline for applications

My Name is a song written to combat the growing issue of bullying. Say My
Name Canada, a 30-day kindness challenge, begins January 25, 2015 and
culminates on February 25, 2015 with the international release of the video
for Say My Name. Participants are encouraged to keep track of kindness acts,
posting the amount done as a school, company, family, organization or group

Bisanz advised that “The
Battle of York” Benefit Game is being hosted by the Newmarket Hurricanes on
February 14, 2015 at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex. The Newmarket
Hurricanes take on the Aurora Tigers at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for
adults, $6.00 for seniors and students and $4.00 for children 10 and under.
All proceeds from the game go to Southlake’s Stronach Regional Cancer Centre.
This event honours 3 young men whose lives ended far too early: Kevin Lord,

Van Bynen invited residents to join him at at the Upper Canada Mall on Sunday, February 8, 2015
for CHATS’ Walk for Wellness to support programs and services for seniors in
our community. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the walk takes place from
8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The $25.00 registration fee per walker is available online
and friends and family can donate directly through your personal fundraising
web page. A donation form can also be downloaded to collect pledges done by
cash or cheque. There are also fundraising incentives. For more information
